About this item
- FEATURE. This plant has an attractive rosette shape, with leaves that are covered in a unique sticky substance resembling butter.
- FLOWER. The flowers of butterworts are held far above the rest of the plant by a long stalk. The single, long-lasting flowers are zygomorphic, with two lower lip petals. The calyx has five sepals, and the petals are arranged in a two-part lower lip and a three-part upper lip. Most butterwort flowers are blue, violet or white, often suffused with a yellow, greenish or reddish tint.
- EASY INDOOR CARE. The Mexican Butterwort is an ideal choice for indoor gardening due to its ability to survive well in indirect sunlight. You can place it on a windowsill or in a well-lit room, just make sure it receives some natural light without direct sun exposure.
- EASY TO GROW. They're an easy-to-grow carnivorous plant provided you give them good light and pure water. As a perk, if they're happy they'll flower once or twice a year too.
- PLANTING TIP. The Mexican Butterwort plant requires a moist environment to thrive and is often found growing in wetlands, bogs, and on the edges of streams. It prefers partial shade but can tolerate some direct sunlight.
